Twelve people died on Sunday morning when the bus they were traveling in crashed just outside Chivhu town, about 140 km south of Harare, the
capital of Zimbabwe, police said.
"The Zimbabwe Republic Police reports a fatal road traffic accident in which a Harare-bound Timboom bus which had 40 passengers crashed at the 5 km peg along Chivhu-Murambinda Road on April 16, 2023, at 6:30 a.m.
"Twelve people, including the driver, died. Police details are still attending to the accident. More details will be released in due course," the police said on their Twitter handle.
Zimbabwe has been experiencing many fatal road traffic accidents of late, with at least 30 people having died during the just-ended Easter holiday.
