Chinese Super League (CSL) champions Wuhan Three Towns will face Chinese Football Association (CFA) Cup winners Shandong Taishan in the CFA Super Cup on Saturday, a game both eager to win.
"I hope my players can show determination to win the game, and I am sure they will try their best," said Wuhan head coach Pedro Pineda on Monday.
The season-opener will take place in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.
"The CFA Super Cup is a final as well as an important championship. It's very important for my team as it represents a new and important honor," said Pineda.
"Undoubtedly, Shandong Taishan is a very strong team, which we drew with in our encounters last season.
"I have no idea of their physical conditions, but I am sure they have the same eagerness as us for this CFA Super Cup title," he added.
Shandong, who missed out on the CSL title on goal difference, drew 1-1 with Wuhan in both of their CSL encounters last season.
Shandong beat Wuhan 6-1 on aggregate in the two-legged Chinese FA Cup quarterfinal on their way to the final, where they defeated Zhejiang FC 2-1.
