Contemporary World, a multi-lingual journal supervised by the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), launched its Nigerian edition at the launching ceremony of Contemporary
As a joint initiative by China's Contemporary World Magazine and the Nigerian Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, the newly launched quarterly English journal aims to promote mutual understanding and deepen cooperation between the two countries.
The journal will bring together a wealth of views from renowned experts and think tanks in both countries focusing on China-Africa relations, African affairs, and international studies, and provide multiple perspectives on understanding and resolving issues of global concern.
At the launch ceremony, Liu Jianchao, Minister of the IDCPC, said that he hoped Contemporary World Nigeria would serve as a platform for cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the two civilizations.
"As major developing countries, China and Nigeria enjoy long-standing friendship and have produced bountiful results in practical cooperation," Liu noted. "We hope the magazine will foster direct conversations and dialogue, publish the latest outcomes of academic research, facilitate the study and communication of international affairs, expand the avenue of cultural exchange, and contribute to the building of the China-Africa comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership."
Geoffrey Onyeama, Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, said the collaboration between the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution and Contemporary World manifests the continued efforts of the two countries to provide opportunities for knowledge sharing and to build a better society. He said he expects the academic journal to enrich the conversation in fostering and building consensus around solutions to combat threats to peace, security and development.
Founded in 1981, Contemporary World is a comprehensive journal distributed around the world in Chinese, English, Spanish and Arabic, providing readers with in-depth analysis and perspectives on global hotspot issues, the dynamic changes in international relations and world party politics.
