World No. 1 Iga Swiatek prevailed 6-4, 6-2 over Coco Gauff in a rematch of last year's French Open final on Wednesday to secure her

place in the semis.

Swiatek, a two-time singles champion in Paris, has yet to drop a set in the tournament this year after five matches.

Next for the Pole is No. 14 seed Beatriz Haddad Maia, who upset seventh-seeded Ons Jabeur of Tunisia 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-1 to become the first woman from Brazil to reach the semifinals at Roland Garros in the Open Era.

Swiatek took an early lead in the first set after breaking Gauff's serve in the fourth game, but No. 6 seed responded well in the following to break back, before holding another game to level the score at 3-3.

After both players held their serves, the top seed found the hole again in the 10th game, winning four points in a row to break again to take the set.

Gauff tried to raise her level in the second set, holding her first two serves to keep the match toe-to-toe at 2-2. But Swiatek flew away again, winning four consecutive games to secure her victory.

The title holder showed that her ability at crucial moments was on another level, winning 100% of points when having the chance to break and saving all three break points that she faced.

It was the seventh victory for Swiatek over Gauff in as many meetings, and an overwhelming 14-0 in sets.
